One Day Course - Sunday 22nd February 2004
The Association One Day course proved very successful with both guest speakers from IFA Inspectorate being Malcolm Moffatt and Malcolm Wright, while our own Arnold Hunter rounded
the day off. Fermanagh and Western Football Association President Roy Cathcart got proceedings underway by opening the course where he highlighted the large attendance, the
steps forward the association was making and that referees are not getting the respect they deserve.
Malcolm Moffatt was first on with a UEFA Video on incidents during games with all members in attendance having to take part which generated a positive
response. The second part of the morning saw Neville Cathcart and George Parkinson assist Moffatt as they went through the assessment form and what expected of referees at the different levels.
Following lunch it was turn of Malcolm Wright to talk on Law 11, offside and new changes which lately has brought about much debate. Following Malcolm
talk this was debated with everyone left with much better understanding and also been made aware that these changes were here to stay. Then Fermanagh very
own Arnold Hunter give a very interesting talk on assistant refereeing according to FIFA guidelines and he was assisted by Tim Marshall.
In closing the course Malcolm Moffatt said he was impressed by what was happening in the association.
